Blackburn is host to the impressive black and white medieval manor house Salmesbury Hall which was originally built with its solar end windows facing towards the east, is now used partly as a wedding and banqueting venue. Accrington draws visitors to its Mill at Oswaldtwistle the grounds of which are home to a Wildfowl Reserve accommodating over 52 varieties of Ducks and Geese. Colne is within reach of the Pendle Hill area and is a popular attraction for walkers.

Todmorden, Ramsbottom & Preston – Traditional Events & Festivals.

The famous social reformer John Fielden hailed from Todmorden and was noted for his efforts towards the implementation of legislation which protected the rights and welfare of factory workers. Ramsbottom has several interesting traditional events and festivals such as the annual exhibition of game fowl and annual rhythm and blues festival. Ramsbottom’s 'tilted vase' is part of the Irwell sculpture trail. Preston was chosen above 26 other English towns to be awarded city status in 2002 and has a rich and varied range of visitor attractions.

Huddersfield lies within the boundaries of the West Riding of Yorkshire and is as well known for its sporting activities as for the excellent Huddersfield University. Nearby Bradford is the birthplace of the renowned artist David Hockney and one of the largest collections of his work is located at the imposing mill built by Sir Titus Salt within his purpose built village on the outskirts of Bradford. There is plenty of entertainment available in Halifax for young and old alike from the excitement of the Eureka science museum to theatres and the imposing Piece Hall for shops, exhibitions and tourist information. Piece Hall, Bradford, was also used as the set for the National Brass Band Championships in the 1996 film Brassed Off.

Wakefield developed as a thriving market town and inland port centring on the trade of corn and wool. Sheffield takes its name from the River Sheaf which runs through the city and is internationally famous for the innovative Sheffield steel industry.
